Visitors are taken on an inspiring journey back in time, highlighting the company\u2019s rich history and craftsmanship, while also looking ahead to the future. A real highlight this year is the focus product Petunia Tea. In a presentation with a true wow factor, several new Petunia Tea Upright varieties will be introduced. This series stands out thanks to strong USPs: a compact line, no need for pinching, day-length neutrality, a high number of plants per square meter, and fast flowering with good leaf volume. A future-oriented concept that perfectly meets the needs of professional growers, retail, and trade. <\/p>\n

Maasdijk, March 2026<\/em> \u2013 Beekenkamp Group celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. What began in 1951 as a small-scale vegetable plant nursery on 1.3 hectares in Maasdijk has grown into an international enterprise with more than 95 hectares of greenhouses, over 2,900 employees and an annual production of more than 2 billion young plants, divided among Beekenkamp Vegetables, Beekenkamp Ornamentals, Beekenkamp Verpakkingen and Deliflor Chrysanten.
\nThe anniversary will be celebrated during the Flower Trials in June, with a large event for employees in October, and with various other activities. In addition, a special anniversary emblem will be visible this year at all locations, on all trucks, and in all communications to mark this milestone. <\/p>\n

The family story of Beekenkamp Group began in 1951 with founder Govert Beekenkamp. His vision and entrepreneurship laid the foundation for a versatile and innovative company within global horticulture. Commitment, reliability and innovation have been central from the very beginning and remain the core values of the family business. Resilience and a determined mentality form the basis of what the company is today: a leading international player with activities in more than 45 countries and branches in Europe, Africa, North and South America, and Asia. <\/p>\n

From the 1980s onwards, the company began a strong growth acceleration with the acquisition of Lyraflor, the establishment of Beekenkamp Verpakkingen, and the expansion of cutting production to countries including Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya. Thanks to several strategic acquisitions \u2013 including Leen de Mos Tropica, Fred Blokker, Novaplant, Deltastek, Brabantstek and Florema \u2013 Beekenkamp further developed into a major market player in young plants. In 2000, Govert handed the company over to his daughters An and Margriet. <\/p>\n

Under the leadership of An Beekenkamp, Marc Driessen, Peter Zaat and Fons van der Vleuten, major steps have once again been taken in recent years. The opening of the Research & Development Center in Maasdijk, new production locations in Kenya, Colombia and Japan, a state-of-the-art rooting facility in Nieuwaal and the newly built vegetable greenhouse in Maasdijk all demonstrate the organisation\u2019s ongoing commitment to global innovation. <\/p>\n

MAASDIJK \u2013 Beekenkamp Plants has reached an important milestone: starting this month, all ornamental plants are produced in the sustainable, reusable BKX-tray. This marks a major step toward further sustainability and efficiency within our production processes. <\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2019, Beekenkamp Plants introduced the BKX-tray, an environmentally friendly hard-plastic tray designed for long-term reuse. Through close collaboration with sister company Beekenkamp Packaging, these trays are fully aligned with the needs of growers and with Beekenkamp Plants\u2019 internal production systems. After use, the trays are returned, washed, and reused, significantly reducing the ecological footprint. <\/p>\n

The BKX-tray offers multiple benefits: its long lifespan, excellent plant removal, and the stackability of all tray sizes increase efficiency throughout the supply chain. In addition, the tray is highly suitable for automatic potting\u2014an increasingly important aspect as automation continues to grow within horticulture. The BKX-tray also proves its value during transport; whereas disposable trays were prone to damage, the BKX tray remains sturdy and reliable. With an expected lifespan of ten years, it is a sustainable and cost-efficient solution. <\/p>\n

Since the installation of an additional module<\/a><\/span> in our tropical seedling line in October 2025, all tropical plants can now also be produced on BKX trays. This means the final crop group has successfully transitioned to reusable trays. Last month, the very last disposable trays were removed, meaning that only BKX trays are now used in our greenhouses\u2014a milestone we are particularly proud of. <\/p>\n

By fully adopting the BKX-tray, we reinforce our commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and future-oriented production.
