To monitor the current pest and disease levels in our greenhouses, we use an intensive scouting and crop observation system. All greenhouses and crops are carefully monitored, and the observations are recorded in a scout app. This helps us create an up-to-date crop protection plan and recognise patterns in pest infestations and diseases.

Sustainable methods of crop protection are gaining ground in our greenhouses, provided they offer sufficient safety. We are also seeing a transition to organic crop protection among our customers. Beekenkamp is joining this trend as a supplier.

Chemical pesticides lose their effectiveness and pests develop resistance. That is why we are investing in research into biological (organic) crop protection, such as crop protection products of natural origin (CPNO) and biological control agents. These methods contribute to making resilient plants.

The transition to greener crop protection requires a careful approach and training of our growers. Knowledge of the life cycles of pests and their natural enemies is becoming increasingly important. This has long-term benefits and helps us respond swiftly to new challenges.

The floriculture sector is in a phase of change, with opportunities for innovation due to the transition to greener crop protection. Beekenkamp is happy to contribute to this.
